Jesus is the only light that makes people truly see!

Imitate God, therefore, in everything that you do, because you are His dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered Himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 5:1-2
Imagine a lighthouse firmly grounded on a shoreline. A lighthouse stands tall and keeps watch of all that the sea floats - a lifeline for ships and boats piercing through stormy nights and the murky fog that hides what needs to be found. A lighthouse reveals what is unseen and lights up all that surrounds it, giving hope to anyone who sees.
Jesus says in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." Jesus is this light and anyone who believes in Him will see and anyone who sees will spend eternity with Him. This light that is freely given to us gives us hope, grace, love and life. It is our lifeline here on earth that joins us with God and sets us free!
As believers we receive this light in us through the Holy Spirit, which is God's Spirit, that has renewed us as His children and is our letter to the world that we belong to Him (2 Corinthians 3:3). Our ministry on this earth is to shine His light in all that we do and are. We reveal to the world the difference that is Jesus and what He has done for us!
When we live a life shining His light, we not only become more like Jesus, but we become responsible for caring for His light. The light we reveal to the world must not become twisted and blurred like Satan would have it. We need to stay honest and pure by remaining in His Word and by constantly being fed through prayer and supplication unto Christ. We need to always be refreshed by His Living Water and renewed through Communion. The light shines brighter when believers stand together. 1 John 1:9 says, "If anyone claims, "I am living in the light," but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is still living in darkness. Anyone who loves another brother or sister is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble." As children of God, as His family, we need to take care of His light by remaining accountable to one another and to God.
Jesus' light is revealed through His love - this love that loves enemies and is revealed in 1 Corinthians 13. That is why He commands us to love our enemies and our neighbours just as He has loved us (Luke 10:27). He has also shone this light in our hearts to reveal to us His glory that is seen through Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:6). How beautiful and comforting is this light? His Presence is so real and fulfilling that life without it seems impossible.
Jesus is our lighthouse. He brought us to safety, giving us a home with Him for eternity. He wants to save so many others too, and that is why as disciples of Jesus we can shine His light, sharing in His glory, sending out lifelines to many everyday.
Thank you Lord for revealing to me the things that keep me from shining your light brighter. I pray that as the days go on, you use me to shine Your light in ways and places I never thought I would go. Thank You Lord for teaching me more about who You are and what You ask of me. May Your name be exalted forever and ever! Amen.
