How we equip ourselves, each new day, will most definitely determine the outcome of it!
"Put on all of God's armour so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil." Ephesians 6:10
Yesterday was what you would call 'one of those days'. From the time my eyes opened to the time they closed again, many challenges were thrown at me. Throughout the day, my patience and peace was tested, the enemy constantly tried to steal my joy - but I stood firm because I was equipped with the whole armour of God!
Yesterday, I woke up asking God to equip me with His body armour. I didn't even know that my day was going to turn out the way it did, but I prayed that prayer and it surely got me through it strong and undefeated!
The Helmet of Salvation - the covering of the blood of Jesus and the revelation of the Holy Spirit revealed through me kept my mind strong throughout the day. When Satan tries to attack you in life with doubts of who Jesus is and what He has done for us, this helmet protects our minds from that doubt. It is so important to keep our minds fixed on Jesus and our eyes turned to Him!
The Breastplate of Righteousness - last week I spoke about guarding our hearts. This breastplate guards just that. Through Jesus, righteousness was restored back with God and through this we are unified, as one, with Him. God's righteousness protects our hearts. As it is the most vulnerable and life-supporting organ in our bodies, it is also the most central place that God transforms when we give our lives to Him. This breastplate kept my heart safe and as much as the enemy tried to damage it, the more joy, peace, patience and love flowed from it. Take that Satan!
The Belt of Truth - a regular belt just tightens loose pants, this belt keeps us tight and firm in God's grip of Truth! Waging war with lies and evil, God's Truth sets us free and we are no longer captive by our sins but are living through Jesus - who is God's Truth. This promise of eternal life with God has to be held firmly and so girding your loins with the Truth revealed in our Messiah, will most certainly keep us firm and grounded in Him! Praise be to the most glorious, pure and majestic God we serve!
The Shoes of the preparation of Peace - what a beautiful way to live when every step you take, is grounded in peace. "Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. ... Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand." Phil 4:6-7. My peace yesterday was on thin ice, but I persisted in prayer and with every step I took, I decided to put Jesus first and in that I experienced such undeniable peace.
The Shield of Faith - faith is the basis of our relationship with Jesus. Every fiery arrow of temptation, insults, and setbacks - our faith in Jesus stops every single one. In every difficult circumstance, our faith needs to be firm and built on solid rock as a wise man does (Matt 7:24-27). Remember, faith in Jesus is what set us free - be sure to know your faith will take a lot of knocks throughout life. But through this faith, we should already know that, in everything, we have ultimate victory!!
The Sword of the Spirit - this is the only offensive armour we have, but what a strong piece it is! The Word of God is what we use to penetrate every lie, deception and attack from the enemy himself. We have this with us, physically, and that's why it is so important to read the Bible. It is also equally important to pray in the Spirit at all times too (Eph 6:18). I wouldn't even have known about God's armour if it wasn't for His Word telling me! How amazing and glorious is God!
So now, our whole body is protected, except for our backs. That's to show us that we need to keep moving forward. We need to walk in Salvation, Righteousness, Truth, Peace, Faith and remain in the Spirit and God's Word. Hallelujah! I encourage you to pray this over your life every day and may God bless you with such happiness and love through every circumstance you face.
"Peace be with you, dear brothers and sisters, and may God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ give you love with faithfulness." Ephesians 6:23
Thank You Lord for protecting us and equipping us for battle every day. Thank You for victory already revealed in Your Son, Jesus! May we walk equipped in Your armour, focusing on You and remaining strong in Your promises! We love You Lord. May Your name be glorified in all the earth! Amen.
